The low is a low string instrument played with the fingers, either by plucking, slapping, popping, or tapping or with a pick. The bass is similar in appearance and construction as an Electric Guitar, but with a larger body, a longer neck and scale length, and usually four strings tuned an octave lower in the tone of the four lower strings of a guitar.
Materials used to make low
The bodies of these special instruments are usually made of wood, although other materials such as graphite have also been used. The most common type of wood used in the body of alder, the neck is maple and rosewood is to the fret board, although a variety of woods can be used for the body.
Other regularly used woods include mahogany, maple, ash, poplar and bodies, mahogany neck and ebony for fret boards. The choice of body material and shape of these guitars can have a significant impact on the buzzer the finished instrument, as well as aesthetic considerations. A brief history

This tuning is the same as the standard pitch in the bottom four strings on the guitar with 6 strings, only an octave lower.
Pickups
Most electric bass guitars use magnetic pickups. The vibrations of metal instrument strings within the magnetic field of permanent magnets in pickups small changes in magnetic flux threading the coils of the pickups.
Amplification and effects
