Worn Brown

What color should our groomsmen wear if the bridesmaids are wearing brown/gold?

My bridesmaid dresses are brown with a gold shimmer to them. Would it be too bland to have all the groomsmen in brown, too? What color suits/ties should they wear that would complement the dresses and still add some color to the wedding party?
Ah, I should have mentioned that the dresses are dark brown, so they will definitely look weird with black. Also, we’re doing suits, not tuxes, so there won’t be any vests. Thanks!

I would probably stay away from brown because it’s just too much with the girls’ dresses, but something in the earthy neutrals would be great. I would go with a tan or khaki suit to offset the b.maid dresses. As far as ties go, you could play with that a little and see what you like – maybe if you have another complimenting color you are using in the wedding (like blue or green) I would use that in a pattern or solid. It would be much more interesting visually than just a brown or other neutral-colored tie. With the entire bridal party in such subdued colors, an unexpected pop of color in the men’s ties would look great. Good luck
