How to set my guitar settings on my amp to distortion?
I have a Raven RG 20 amp and a Ibanez RG series guitar. How should I set my amp so that is sounds distorted? And I mean really distorted.
As distorted as possible. I have Lead Gain and Volume, Rhythm Volume, EQ Bass Mid and Treble and Effects
Distortion is typically handled with a stompbox or effects pedal (although the Beatles did “Revolution” by slashing the speaker in the amp). Distortion is usually attained by overdriving the speaker so, without a pedal, extreme volume is required.
DIstortion pedals can be had for cheap money. The Boss DS-1 typically runs around $40 and Danelectros (like the D-3) can usually be had for under $20. There are one tailored to your musical style (blues, metal, etc.) The best way to find the sound you are looking for is to take your guitar to your local music shop and do some test drives.
